Sacred Music
Cathy has been making music in church her entire life. As a child she sang and rang handbells in the Lutheran church that her grandparents founded, then as a teenager she would play trumpet and piano, and later organ, for services. Feeling a call to continue this as a career, she received a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of North Texas with a Specialization in Church Music and a Master’s in Sacred Music from Boston University’s School of Theology. From there she went on to build/rebuild, from the ground up, music programs in four New England UCC churches, sharing the joy of singing and playing instruments in worship with hundreds of children and adults. She currently serves as Minister of Music for South Church in Andover, Massachusetts, where she directs four children’s choruses, an adult choir, handbells, and works with the worship band. She also provides Music Ministry consulting for Protestant churches, giving congregations the tools they need to develop and grow their music programs. Her sacred music experience, theological training, and adept interpersonal skills make her a valuable resource for congregations who may be in transition, are experiencing conflict, or simply want a fresh perspective. If you would like to invite her to assist your music ministry as a guest clinician or consultant, visit our Request|Connect|Book page to be in touch.
